Mitch was previously an Assistant District Attorney for Harrison, Hancock and Stone Counties. Mitch served as an Assistant District Attorney for 8 years. As an ADA, he was personally responsible for the prosecution and trial of violent crimes, crimes against children, cases involving the sale of illegal narcotics and civil forfeiture cases of currency or property derived from illicit drug distribution. Before joining the District Attorney’s office, he was in general practice with the firm of Owen, Galloway, and Myers. Mitch and Joe Sam formed the firm of Owen and Owen, PLLC prior to partnering with Joel Smith. He has been a partner in the firm since 2020.
Mitch is admitted to practice in all Mississippi State Courts. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Mississippi Prosecutors Association, the National District Attorney’s Association and the Harrison County Bar Association. He is admitted to all Mississippi Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern District of Mississippi and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mitch Lance Owen is a lifelong resident of Gulfport, MS. He graduated from St. John High School and went on to Mississippi State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Mississippi College School of Law. Mitch resides in Gulfport with his wife and three children.
